Yesterday's book buy.
I wanted the original cover for this but this one is gorgeous too and plus it was only $4!
I went to a book signing for the Miss Jessie’s book last week and met Miko Branch!
I hope I look as good as she does when I’m in my forties!
Rest in Peace Titi Branch! Your legacy will live on!
Technically I’m on a book buying ban but I saw the amazing trailer for Me, Earl and the Dying Girl yesterday and I immediately went out and bought the book today.
And I couldn’t leave the bookstore without getting my book a friend so I bought Carrie too lol!
I bought two cases for my Nook today! (well technically it’s not my Nook; it’s my little sisters but she got in trouble and got it taken away temporarily so I kind of “inherited” it lol). These were both made to look like books, a composition notebook and a fancy hardback; they were really cheap too!
I’ve only ever used the Nook to get on the internet when I’m too lazy to get on my computer lol. I’m really not a fan of ereaders because I enjoy the feel of a real book and screens hurt my eyes after a while but one of my bookish goals for this year is to read at least 2 ebooks just to see how I like it.
I got the chance to go to a book signing yesterday and met Issa Rae! She was so hilarious! I can't wait to read her book!
New books! I finally used my Target giftcards that I got for Christmas and decided to get these:
Battle Royale by Koushun Takami (I didn’t know this book was going to be so huge! I’m kind of scared to read it now lol)
The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead by Max Brooks (I already own, and have yet to read, World War Z so naturally I had to buy this one too!)
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (Just a classic that I’ve always wanted to read.)
The Skin I’m In by Sharon G. Flake (One of my favorite books! I read this in elementary school/high school. I loaned it to a classmate and never got it back so I had to buy another copy.)
The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Malcolm X & Alex Haley (I really enjoyed this read when I read it for a research project in highschool. I also really enjoyed the film adaption of it as well. Everyone knows Denzel deserved at least an Oscar nom for this role!)
Starting Your Day Right: Devotions for Each Morning of the Year by Joyce Meyer (I want to strengthen my relationship with God; we’ve sorta drifted apart recently so I’m hoping this helps!)
